Content Change Tracker — Included on All Plans

Know What Changed.
Know Why Your Citations Moved.

AI platforms cite you based on what’s on your pages right now — not what was there last week. Content Change Tracker watches every page in your monitoring, captures structured snapshots on every scan, and tells you exactly which content change caused which citation shift. When your ModelScore drops on Tuesday, you’ll know which page edit on Monday caused it.

The Visibility Layer No Competitor Has

How you diagnose today

  • ModelScore drops 6 points
  • Check each AI platform manually
  • Notice ChatGPT stopped citing your pricing page
  • Open your CMS revision history
  • Scroll through last week’s edits
  • Find a heading change that might be related
  • Wonder if that’s actually why
  • Move on, still guessing

How CiteMetrix diagnoses it

  • ModelScore drops 6 points
  • Open Content Change Tracker
  • See that your pricing page’s H1 and meta description changed on Monday
  • See that ChatGPT citation rate for that page dropped from 40% to 12% on Tuesday
  • Correlation is immediate — same page, same window
  • Fix the heading, wait for the next scan
  • Citation rate recovers
  • Know exactly what to watch next time

Four Ways to See What AI Sees

📸

Automatic Page Snapshots

Every scan captures a structured snapshot of every monitored page — not just a screenshot, but parsed data: page title, meta description, H1–H3 headings, word count, internal link count, schema types present, canonical URL, and a content hash. Compare any two snapshots to see exactly what changed between scans.

🔗

Citation-Attributed Changes

When a page’s content changes between scans and its citation rate moves in the same window, Content Change Tracker links the two events. You see the content delta and the citation delta side by side — the correlation that turns “my score dropped” into “my score dropped because this specific page changed.”

📥

Screaming Frog Import

Already crawled your site with Screaming Frog? Import your CSV directly. CiteMetrix maps the crawl data to your monitored pages, fills in structural data the platform hasn’t seen yet, and adds any discovered pages to your monitoring. Available on Starter plans and above.

🌐

Automated Site Crawl

The newest addition to Content Change Tracker. One click starts an automated depth crawl of your entire site — up to 500 pages, three link levels deep, respecting your robots.txt. Every discovered page gets a full structured snapshot. No CSV exports, no third-party tools, no manual imports. Available on Starter plans and above. Learn more on the Site Crawl feature page →

Common Questions

How do page snapshots get captured?
Automatically, every time CiteMetrix runs a scan for your domain. There’s nothing to configure — every page in your monitoring gets a structured snapshot on every scan cycle. You can also trigger snapshots manually by running a Site Crawl or importing a Screaming Frog CSV.
What exactly gets captured in a snapshot?
Page title, meta description, H1 through H3 headings, word count, internal link count, external link count, schema.org types present, canonical URL, robots directives, and a content hash of the full page body. Enough to detect any meaningful content change between scans without storing the full HTML.
Does this tell me why my citation rate changed?
It shows you the correlation — which content changed and which citation rates moved in the same window. That’s not proof of causation (nothing can prove that, since AI platform re-indexing is opaque), but it’s the data point no other tool gives you. In practice, when you see a heading change on Monday and a citation drop on Tuesday for the same page, the correlation is strong enough to act on.
Do I need a specific plan to use Content Change Tracker?
Page snapshots, change detection, and citation attribution are included on every paid plan. Screaming Frog import and automated Site Crawl require Starter or above. See the pricing page for the full comparison.
Can I track pages that AI doesn’t currently cite?
Yes — that’s exactly what Site Crawl and Screaming Frog import are for. They add pages to your monitoring before any AI platform has discovered them, so you have baseline snapshots ready. When a platform does start citing one of those pages, you’ll see the change from zero and know exactly what content was on the page when it happened.
